The newly formed future problem solving team hosted a Competition on Jan. 21, 2020 in the Barren County High School Library.
In order to adequately prepare for that competition, they practiced on Wednesdays, Fridays, and occasionally a weekend.
The schools that participated in the competition were given a scene of at least 20 years in the future. They had to write 16 challenges that could be faced in this time frame.
Following writing the challenges, they would have to write 16 solutions for the problem and sort them into criteria. Then they would be required to form a three-paragraph action plan.
“When I entered this competition I felt prepared enough to succeed,” Flora Like said.
The team members that helped host this event are Emily Phelps, Jade Roedl, Flora Lin, and Lucas Romine.
The team competed and placed 3rd.
“Though we didn’t make it to regionals, I am glad I had the opportunity to compete,” Emily Phelps said.
The Future Problem Solving Team is accepting members for next year’s team. See Mrs. Romine in Room 18, or email at email@example.com for more information.
