BCHS SBDM holds Oct. hearing, girls perform better on standardized tests

The BCHS Site Based Decision Making Council had their monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 8  at the Trojan Academy Media Center.

The council confirmed the JROTC’s seventh annual Military Ball. The ball will be held on March 16, 2019, at the Cave City Convention Center from 5:30 to 11:00 p.m.

The council also discussed district tournaments this week. Volleyball faced Allen County- Scottsville on Tuesday, falling short against the Lady Patriots. Boys soccer lost 4-2 against the Clinton County Bulldogs.

Tonight, girls soccer became district champions for the third year in a row. The girls won against the Lady Scotties 3-1.

Brad Johnson, discussed the increase of score results from the 2018 on-demand writing for students. The council discussed how students have lower scores in reading and this could be because of the timed areas.

The council also added that the school will continue for preparing for tests like the ACT

Johnson mentioned the difference in scores between girls and boys, girls performing higher than boys.

“There is a large gap between the girls’ performance and the boys’,” Johnson said.

The ways BCHS hopes to resolve this problem is practicing for test like ACT. Teachers will practice in bell ringers and with other assignments.

BCHS continues to prepare students to become college and career ready. One of the most positive results from last year is that 74.8 of students are transition ready upon graduation.

The council also discussed that the boys and girls basketball teams fundraisers are beginning.

The BCHS SBDM Council will have their next meeting on Nov. 8.
