The BCHS Site Based Decision Making Council met March 11 at the Trojan Academy Media Center discussing student tickets for the KHSAA State Basketball Tournament game on March 14 are free. The council also discussed recognitions of students and their awards.
Brad Johnson announced that a private donor has purchased student tickets for the tournament.
While on the discussion of the Girls Basketball team the council said why the crowds and fans for the Trojanettes were so large.
“We have a lot of homegrown girls who went to the elementary schools, several of the elementary schools are being represented,” Johnson said. “A lot of their parents went to school here.”
Brandy Pendygraft, council secretary, added, “I think that’s part of the reason why we have such a good crowd because they are our kids.”
The council also discussed the students that have been recognized since the last meeting.
Nolan Toohey, senior, was recognized for signing to play football with the University of the Cumberlands.
Brennan Crain, senior, was recognized for many awards in journalism at the 2019 Mark of Excellence high school journalism contest hosted at Western Kentucky University.
Third District Beta had many students to receive awards, including Malena Hughes, freshman, who won the Secretary of State Essay Contest. Johnson commented about the amount of students that have received awards through the Beta Club.
“Beta continues to achieve,” Johnson said, “I’m very impressed with each student.”
